Is Climate Change On The Ballot In The US Mid-Terms?

On Tuesday, November 6, the US will face the first big election since the 2016 presidential elections. 

Despite the grim picture painted by climate change experts across the world, only some states in the US are taking the issue and energy usage into concern. This is especially worrying, given that the US withdrew from the Paris Agreement last fall. 

In Washington State, a tax on carbon emissions has been a big debate.  

"This is being tested in Washington to asses if a nation-wide carbon tax could be politically viable."

In many other states, a range of issues around energy usage is being debated, among them use of renewables in California and off-shore drilling in Florida. This podcast focuses on a specific example from Texas where climate change is affecting one congressional district. 

However, PRI found that issues such as immigration matter more to voters.
